Babies should ride rear-facing in the back seat until they are at least 2 years old (or reach the highest weight &amp; height allowed by the car seat); after that, they should ride front-facing in a car seat with a harness until they reach the upper limit of height &amp; weight for that car seat. </span> </span> </p> <p> <br/> </p> <p> <span> Kids can then sit in a belt-positioning booster seat (still in the back seat) until they are 4 foot 9 inches tall and are 8-12 years old.
